Campaign: Help Free The Dancing Bears

We are going to be highlighting various animal causes or campaigns on this website occasionally, in the hope that some readers may like to join in or help them by getting the word out about the plight of the poor creatures concerned, or perhaps by volunteering or even donating to the particular cause.

This month I’ve chosen “The Dancing Bears” as our featured cause of January 2012.

This “Dancing Bears” advertisement made me cry the first time I saw it, which is why I’ve chosen it as the first of our selected causes or campaigns to feature on this website. The Dancing Bears are beaten in order to make them dance on the command of their trainer, and their delicate snouts pierced and a metal ring is pushed through, in order to give the trainer something to tether the bear with, plus he can also pull on the ring and inflict serious pain on the bear, thereby easily controlling the bear into submission. The nose-ring is also attached to the bears muzzle so that if it attempts to remove the muzzle it would also tear it’s highly sensitive snout.

The Dancing Bears life is one of pure misery, as is evident in their often pitiful, sad eyes. “The eyes are the window to the soul” is true for animals, too, as anyone who loves and studies animals will surely attest to. You can literally see an animals’ pain and suffering in their eyes.

The more people who hear about the plight of the Dancing Bears, the more chance that something might be done to eventually stop it happening, and free these poor bears from their lives of misery and pain.

And then hopefully tourists will finally stop paying money to the dancing bears trainers, to watch this (so called)  “entertainment”.
